Why we started using this product
As my dogs (mainly Mayson) head more and more into their senior years (Mayson is 8 this year and Marley will be 10!) they are experiencing some anxiety and restlessness. We have had lots of big changes in the household with having Everleigh and since I have had to devote the majority of my time and attention to her, Mayson has developed some increased anxiety and displaying distress signals such as pacing, excessive drooling and panting. Mayson also suffers from scoliosis and hip pain, which the CBD really helps as well.
What is CBD and is it the same as THC (marijuana)?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid derived from the hemp plant containing NO psychoactive properties like THC. CBD naturally creates balance and homeostasis by supplementing naturally-occurring endocannabinoids with Phyto-cannabinoids (plant CBD). For pets, our CBD has shown to be an effective treatment for relieving pain and inflammation, increasing mobility in joints, reducing anxiety, supporting digestion, relieving nausea, strengthening the immune system, and defending against diseases, among countless other benefits. There is no "high" from CBD products.
The science behind CBD and why it can be a great choice for your dog for NUMEROUS different reasons and benefits: CBD works by stimulating your dog's endocannabinoid system, which is the body's regulator for things like sleep, appetite, pain responses and more. CBD impacts the activity of the messengers in this system and stimulates the nervous, digestive and immune systems, as well as the brain. And it can do this because the endocannabinoids in CBD are very similar to the ones found in your dog’s body.
CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory that doesn’t carry the same risk of side effects as drugs. It works by binding to CB1 receptors in the brain, which stimulate the immune system to reduce inflammation. CBD binds to both CB1 and CB2 receptors in the brain and nervous system and this helps change the way your dog’s brain perceives pain. Plus, CBD can help manage the other symptoms that accompany pain, such as sleeplessness and nausea. CBD also binds to CB2 receptors found in the nervous and immune systems. A Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine study found dogs given CBD at a rate of 4.4 mg per pound twice daily for a month showed significant improvement in pain relief and quality of life in dogs suffering from arthritis.

We started Mayson on the Fortify 500mg CBD oil in the middle of October and saw results almost immediately. Number 1, he loves to take it and licks it right off the dropper (Its better absorbed when you put it directly on their gums rather than put in food) and has been in a much calmer state being on it. The panting and drooling is less and he chooses to rest on his bed rather than pace around the house. He always gets a dose right before a physical activity or stressful event. In regards to his pain, when he is on the CBD he is much calmer during his massage sessions and has significant less pain responses when he has it on board.
